Current schedule:
Open discussion:
Saturdays, 8:30-9:30 am cdt (US)
Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavad Gita (ISBN 0893890901)
Sundays, 9:00-10:00 pm cdt (US)
These are live
interactive streaming video broadcasts that have both video and
audio. Together, you and I will explore how this is most useful, (this is new for me as of January 2009). I sincerely hope that this is
useful for the regular visitors to the website. Please join me in exploring
this together this way of learning.
To ask "live"
questions please use the "chat" on the Ustream page:
Swami J live streaming video channel
at Ustream
Type your question in
the "chat" box. However, please introduce yourself and let us
all (especially me! :-) ) know who
you are. Please tell me a little about yourself. If you have a website,
please send the link. You can type these in the box at the bottom of the
chat page.
Login name:
Please
set up a login name and password
through www.Ustream.tv. This way your name will appear next to your message
(in the chat window)
rather than some random number that is automatically assigned by Ustream.
Please use your REAL name for your Login name, as it is helpful
to
know who is "chatting" or asking questions by seeing your name
there. I consider this a
personal communication between real people. Please don't just be
anonymous. I sincerely hope that this
works out well for people. Each time you come to the Ustream.tv page,
please remember to login first. Otherwise your name will not show in the
chat window, but rather, Ustream will display a number instead of your
name.
If your name has
already been taken (when you choose your permanent login name and
password), then please use your name with some numbers so that it is
still clear who you are. For example, if somebody had already used "SwamiJ"
I might use the name "SwamiJ486".
You would still recognize that it was me.
If you are new to this
(as I am) please do not feel intimidated. It really is easy, although it
may appear difficult at first. Just click on the channel link above at the scheduled time. If you
have questions or get stuck you can contact me by
email.
Schedule and time

as on the Ustream page. If you have
questions or comments, please contact me by
email.

(This program is streamed in lower resolution for the benefit of
those who have slower internet connections. The picture will be
lesser quality, but the sound should be good. Please type into the
chat window if the resolution is still not low enough, and I'll
lower it still further. You will know this because the sound is
"chopping" up.)
Sometimes: I'm
sometimes leaving the channel "broadcasting" with a stuffed little
bear and a sign, along with some music or mantra. This is a live stream (just
for the fun of it).
Please check back to
this page (the one you are now reading) often, as
I'll probably be adding times and may be shifting things around some for
a while.
Notices and
"Follow": From time to time I may send out an announcement to the
people who follow the broadcasts. If you wish to receive these, please
click on the "Follow" button on the
broadcast page of Ustream.tv.
Topics from
SwamiJ.com articles:
We can schedule
individual broadcast times to discuss individual articles on the
website. This could be individual topics, such as Om Mantra or Karma, or
it could be more extensive, such as going through the Yoga Sutras.
Please let me know of your interests either by email or through the chat
box on the program page. Another possibility is
to have a "class" where you have already read a chapter (or few pages)
of a particular book or watched a couple of the Swami Rama 10-minute
videos on YouTube. Then we could "discuss" these pages or videos through
the streaming video.

Meditation channel on the Ustream site:

Please note that this address may change sometime. Please remember to
visit this page (that you are now reading) if you save the above link in
your Favorites or click on an email link, and you find that you cannot
connect with the channel. If the address does change, I'll put the new
link here on this page which you are now reading: (http://www.swamij.com/broadcast.htm)
Your internet
connection speed:
Ustream suggests an
upload speed (on your computer and internet connection of at least 320
Kbps; 400 is preferred. If your connection is not fast enough the video
stream may be choppy. You can check your internet connection at
http://performance.toast.net/.
If the streaming is choppy and the internet connection speed is okay you
might try closing other programs on your computer so that your CPU
resources are become free.
Reload and Flash player:
-
You may need to click the reload button at the bottom left once you are
on the video page; it is a little curved arrow shaped symbol.
-
You may also need the
latest version of Flash if
the video does not play properly.
Please let me know
about your use of these broadcasts and any ideas or requests you may
have.
In loving service,
Swami J

This site is devoted to
presenting the ancient Self-Realization path of
the Tradition of the Himalayan masters
in simple, understandable and beneficial ways, while not compromising
quality or depth. The goal of our sadhana or practices is the highest
Joy that comes from the Realization in direct experience of the
center of consciousness, the Self, the Atman or Purusha, which is
one and the same with the Absolute Reality.
This Self-Realization comes through Yoga meditation of the Yoga
Sutras, the contemplative insight of Advaita Vedanta, and the
intense devotion of Samaya Sri Vidya Tantra, the three of which
complement one another like fingers on a hand.
We employ the classical approaches of Raja, Jnana, Karma, and Bhakti
Yoga, as well as Hatha, Kriya, Kundalini, Laya, Mantra, Nada, Siddha,
and Tantra Yoga. Meditation, contemplation, mantra and prayer
finally converge into a unified force directed towards the final
stage, piercing the pearl of wisdom called bindu, leading to the
Absolute.
